Day 154 - On the way to the South Island!

Woke up at stupid o'clock this morning to get the ferry to Picton on the South Island. We all ended up piling onto an extremely old school bus with all of our bags. The ferry cost $52 and took 3 hours to get to Picton. I noticed how incredibly different the ferry was than I had expected. It was huge and kind of like a floating hotel. So much different than the ferries I was riding around Thailand! The last hour of the journey was beautiful as we passes through Marlborough Sound.

Upon arrival, our bus driver changed to his "South Island Hat" and we boarded the bus that had fallen off a cliff a few years ago. Today was going to be the start of a larger group of people travelling together. It was our bus driver's last trip and they flew out his cousin to drive with him through the south island as a going away gift, if you will. Today will be the start of 2 full Kiwi Experience buses carrying a total of 104 people travelling down through the island together. It's going to be insane!
